Samsung is likely gearing up to launch the 2018 version of the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 mid-range smartphones. The South Korean giant usually unveils the updated Galaxy A Series handsets. One can expect the same with the 2018 models as well. Some new 3D renders of the upcoming smartphones have surfaced online. Suggest Samsung could bring the Galaxy S8’s Infinity Display to the mid-range A-Series.
The latest 3D renders of the Galaxy A5 (2018) and Galaxy A7 (2018) come courtesy prolific tipster @onleaks. The renders reveal a design language that brings the mind Samsung’s flagship smartphones this year. Not only do the renders showcase a near bezel-less display on the front with no physical buttons. But the rear also sees a fingerprint sensor below the single camera module.
The renders also show a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom of the Galaxy A5 (2018) and Galaxy A7 (2018). The right side sees a power button and speaker grille while the left side will keep the volume controls and SIM tray. There have been rumours of a dedicated Bixby button as well, but the key has been left out from the renders.
If the renders are true, bringing the Infinity Display to Samsung’s mid-range lineup will definitely be well appreciated by those who have loved the near bezel-less design of the company’s recent premium flagships, but have found the price point to be a little too high. As the mid-range segment gets increasingly competitive, the Galaxy A5 (2018) and Galaxy A7 (2018) will look to have an edge with its premium design language.
As far as hardware is concerned, the Galaxy A5 (2018) and Galaxy A7 (2018) are expected to feature Full HD (1080×2160) displays. The former will likely sport a 5.5-inch screen while the later will feature a 6-inch display. They are tipped to be powered by an Exynos 7885 SoC coupled with 4GB of RAM.
Separately, the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017) have received yet another price cut in India. The smartphones can now be availed at Rs 17,990 and Rs 20,990, respectively, as per Mumbai-based retailer Mahesh Telecom. To recall, the Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017) were launched in the country back in March at Rs 28,990 and Rs 33,490 respectively. As we approach the launch of the 2018 versions, the price cut makes sense.
